Up the Creek

The first thing guests notice when they walk into Up The Creek is that this home is not the ‘typical’ rental home. Up The Creek is the long time Calvitti family home which has provided previous guests with a life time of memories. From weddings to extensive family gatherings, Up The Creek is a reverse floor plan and is comfortable and inviting. The decor is reflective of the Calvitti style, from the antique fishing poles and other sea related paraphernalia to the extensive library of books and videos. Much of the hanging art work has been lovingly hand made by previous guests or made by dear friends of the Calvitti family. Click Here for our Up the Creek photo gallery.

Up The Creek is a non smoking dog friendly home located on a quiet and very private dead end road. This home sleeps 6 (six) comfortably in three separate bedrooms with two queen beds and one double bed. The master bedroom has it’s own bathroom while the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. Bed linens and towels are provided. We do suggest however you bring your favorite beach towel.

The fully equipped and very roomy kitchen allows for the family chef to make gourmet meals with minimal effort. The Viking six burner gas stove and oven makes cooking anything a pleasure! The adjoining great room seats many making movie watching on the large flat screen TV fun while the SiriusXM radio provides a plethora of music for the discerning.

The decks surrounding the home offer expansive marsh views teaming with wildlife. There is even a ‘roof top’ deck with a 360 degree view of the surrounding protected marsh lands. Aside from the breathtaking sunsets, the Ocracoke lighthouse can also be seen from the upper decks. There is also a screened in porch just off the great room with a picnic table when dining outside is a must.

There are two double kayaks and five bikes for our guest’s enjoyment. The adjoining creek, better known as South Gut Canal, ebbs and flows with the tide. If followed in a kayak or other shallow bottomed boat, South Gut Canal leads directly out to the Pamlico sound to Springer’s Point. This is where Blackbeard the Pirate met his demise.
